mama hug Affectionately  known as Mama Hypno by her couples,  Debi  has had the honor to assist hundreds of couples in New York, New Jersey and Long Island learn HypnoBirthing® to have the birthing experience they created in their sessions. Her most important credential is, however, her personal experience as having learned the method first as an expectant mother with all the fears, feelings, doubts and concerns that one faces when traveling the journey of pregnancy, childbirth and motherhood.

As a member of Holistic Moms Network, New Yorkers for Vaccination Information and Choice, La Leche League and The HypnoBirthing® Nest along with Long Island Doula Association, The Coalition for Improving Maternity Services and Society of Enlightened Entrepreneurs among other groups, I provide a variety of resources to my clients in their sessions.

I also have over 30 years of experience in the Events Industry.  I worked closely with Marie [aka Mickey] Mongan, the founder of the HypnoBirthing® Institute, planning the First Annual International HypnoBirthing® Conclave which took place September 2002 in Arizona and attended the 2nd Conclave in New England in 2003. I enjoyed seeing Mickey again at the 20th Anniversary HypnoBirthing Conclave Learn and Cruise in 2010 and look forward to attending the 25th Anniversary Conclave later this year.

I have been a guest speaker at The Ross School’s Center for Well Being in East Hampton, Long Island. I volunteered my planning skills as Logistical Chairperson for aTLC’s Summit 2: Healing a Nation’s Trauma held in San Jose, California. I have also been on News12 Long Island Naturally with Mary Mucci and I was interviewed for Ricki Lake’s documentary “The Business of Being Born” and a financial supporter of “More of The Business of Being Born”.  Through Yoga Womb, I teach a 3 hour  “Intro to HypnoBirthing” course to yoga teachers training to become Yoga Alliance Registered PreNatal Teachers.

Before Elizabeth Seton Childbearing Center closed in 2003, I organized free informational sessions about HypnoBirthing® with Hypno Doula Suzanne Fremon and Birthing with Love Melissa Love, held at the center. I supported the New Space for Women’s Health–a project to create a center for birth and wellness in New York City–by offering my expertise in events for several years.

I volunteered at Choices in Childbirth Concert for Healthy Birth at The Canal Room in New York City just a few days before completing my yoga teacher training with Into This World Yoga. I was at the Museum of Motherhood assisting in their celebration of BOLD’s 5th Birth Day with Ina May Gaskin on Labor Day in New York City. The following month I participated in Stony Brook Midwives celebration of Midwifery Week and had the pleasure of talking with Ina May again. Shortly after I trained with Dorothy Guerra learning the Yoga Birthing Method and began my studies for my certification in Pre-Natal Yoga. I was honored to be a Representative for OMAEP – World Organisation for Prenatal Education Associations – in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and attended the International Women’s Congress at the UN. Besides teaching HypnoBirthing on Long Island and in New York City and working with hypnosis clients privately, I was the Production Coordinator for BOLD: The BIRTH Change Campaign working along side the playwright Karen Brody. I did take a “vacation” late 2012…an 11-day intensive with the late Debbie Ford, #1 New York Times best-selling author and an internationally recognized expert in the field of personal transformation and human potential. Presently I am on the Steering Circle for BirthKeeper Summit 2015 as their Event Strategist. Last year I accepted an offer by South Nassau Communities Hospital to be one of their Parent Child Education Instructors. I also officially trained to be a doula—one of my awaited dreams.

My commitment is to see hypnosis and yoga become a standard option in health care instead of being regarded as alternatives.

My personal charter is to empower today’s parents and tomorrow’s future …one birth at a time!
